CD 8.0.0.1 Report Connection Error
I have a report that runs fine in Crystal 9.2. I add it to the latest version of CD (8.0.0.1), and if I do nothing with the settings for it, I can view it. I put in the dates it wants, and then it will pop up and ask for the user/pass of the DB connections, and up the report comes. I can refresh it with new data and get it to re-pull the new stuff down. If I open the setup for the report, and do nothing to it, then close it, and try to view the report then, it blows up when attempting a connection to the database. I did notice, by default, there is spaces in the Monday Teusday etc.. under the time, and they disapear when you open up then close a newly added report, so it all scrunches up. I was able to find an older version to test this report with, and it works fine on 7.0.7.0 I know you changed from VB.net 2005 to 2008. Not sure if this has anything to do with it. I have VB.net 2005 installed on the system I'm testing this on, not sure if that has anything to do with it. I also have the Crystal Studio.net 2008 runtime installed. Any help would be appreciated. I could just go with the older version. There isn't anything pressing I saw in the latest that I would need. Something nice I'd like to see would be the ability to auto change the export file name every time it exports, maybe tag a date at the end of it, so we could keep a history of the files :D

I can't help with the first part, but for the export file names ... I haven't used any of the recent versions of CD, but older versions included something called "dynamic text". They were special codes that you could put in an export file name or accompanying email that would be replaced by a specific value. For example, %mm% is the month, %dd% is the day and %yy% is the year, so file_%mm%%dd%%yy%.pdf would give you a name like file_010609.pdf . If the later versions of CD still have that feature, that should give you what you need. If the versions of CD that you have include a Help file, you might try checking it for "dynamic text". James

Thanks a mil, I'll check it out. I was trying CRD for about 10 days here, and for the price tag, I'm not impressed at all. So far, my reports randomly just have no data, there is no rhyme or reason to it. I'm installing an older version of CD today on a seperate box, and going to compare, and see if this works better.

Worked like a charm, just had to put in at the end and the file name adds the date!! Thanks again :)

You're welcome. Glad I could help. And, if you've got CD sending out emails, don't forget that the dynamic text also works in the subject and body of the email (at least, in the versions of CD that I've used). So, for example, if you use in the name of an export file that CD is going to email to someone, you can also use it in the email, to tell them the exact name of the file (of course they should get the file name as the name of the attachment, but you get the idea). Any word on if there will ever be a fix for this? It only occurs on RPT's that have more than 1 Datasource, and only after you go into the settings of the report to adjust them. It works if you just add and run it, it works every time then. I need to make changes to the settings and have it continue to function.

And yes, I just tested 8.0.0.3 BETA and its still doing it there...
