CD on a Terminal Server
I am running CD version 7.0.7.0 on a Win2k3 server, that is running Terminal Server. I have 5 users who connect to this terminal server and try to run CD in this manner: - Click 'schedule' to open the RPT file - Click 'view' to change parameters and view the report When they click view (which SHOULD bring up a parameter screen) it just hangs. It gives them an hourglass and the ability to do just about anything else, but will not bring up that parameter screen or view the report. Here's the kicker -- I have no problem viewing. The only difference I can think of it that I am an Administrator. Could it be a permissions issue? If so, what do I need to give them permissions to access?

A disclaimer: I haven't used CD 7. I'm still using 6, because it's my understanding that if I switch to 7, I'll have to recreate the 100+ schedule entries I have, and I just don't feel like doing that. So, the following is guesswork to at least some degree. A permission problem seems like the obvious guess. Does the "schedule" option work and "open the RPT file"? If so, that would indicate that they have permission to read the RPT file. In that case, the obvious guess would be a problem accessing the tables or whatever is used as the datasource in the report. Is there anything else they can run that uses the same tables (or whatever) as the report? If so, does that work? If so, does it use the same connection (OLE DB, ODBC, etc.)? To eliminate table (or whatever) permissions from the equation, you could try creating a simple report that just outputs some preset fields and doesn't read anything and see if they can use that in CD. You could also try it with and without a parameter, to see if that's an issue. James

I know it sounds obvious, but I ended up using Crystal Corral instead. They just needed to pull up reports and refresh data -- I wasn't aware of the capabilities of Corral. Once I changed it over, they LOVED it.

Now that you mention it, it does sound kind of obvious <g>, since you only mentioned viewing the reports. CC never occurred to me, probably partly because I don't use it. It's interesting that CC worked and CD didn't. It may have to do with the libraries they use or something. IAC, I'm glad you found a solution. James
