Network Triggers I have CR XI Developer Edition and for the life of me cannot figure out the licensing. I know I should be able to deploy the activexviewer, but their instructions are poor and don't work. Not to mention, the indecipherable licensing.
Anyway, I am the only one at my office creating and modifying reports. Everyone else only cares for PDF and Excel files and has no need for Crystal. Crystal Delivery has potential for helping me out. Month-end reports and such are not a problem. The problem is with reports that have somewaht volatile data. The time of the data updates and printing of the reports is not fixed. I could schedule report runs on a very frequent basis, but that seems a bit kludgy.
And now for my point. It would be nice to be able to trigger Crystal Delivery with something other than time. That way a person can manually trigger my system's Crystal Delivery to refresh the report.
There are all kind of ways to do this. A simple TCP Listening service would work.
I'm actually considering creating something simple to "wrap around" Crystal Delivery. I'd create a client and a server portion. The server would listen on a TCP port and under the proper conditions run the Crystal Delivery Command Line with the appropriate calls. Possibly even receiving parameters over TCP.
It would be nice to see something integrated into Crystal Delivery, and save me trouble coding. If I get something working, I'll share it. Be warned my coding sucks.
