Place to store database properties? Kgroff,
I have a suggestion!
Right now, when ever I add a report, I need to add the password manually which is a pain :-(
Can we have a place holder where we can store the database properties (say test, uat, production) in a form with the service, username, password etc. And then, in the connection, have the option to select the database in a dropdown which would have all the properties? This would be an amazing and a very useful addition.
So, if in the future, if I have 100 reports, all I need to is go to the forms and change the password in one place! What do you think of this idea?
Thanks for your help!

Jay,
This isn't quite what you requested, but the next version with have a text replace feature that can be used for updating passwords. You will be able to enter a current text string (your old password) and a new text string (your new password) and then the program will open every supporting text file and update/replace the string.

quick question regarding this new feature... Hi,
I had a doubt. What happens if the old password that we are changing happens to be part of the file path or say some other value in the text file???
Won't this global replace mess up other settings??
Just a thought!

It is possible that the text replace can cause errors. To minimize the risk, I have it set up where you can select which areas to do the text replace, such as:
schedule settings
parameters
connections
export directory
export printer
export email
alert email
Additionally, I have a header to remind the user to back up the reports list prior to performing a text replace just in case the results don't match the expectations.
