Auto Mode - trouble sheduling export times
I'm trying to work out the logic behind when the Auto Mode actually runs reports - not that obvious to me :cry: As context, reports run fine in manual and auto mode, create PDFs and attach them fine ... only the scheduling business still perplexes me. To produce reports automatically on 29th (for example), what needs to be done - other than enabling Auto Mode and setting the interval as : 29th day of every month; valid day of week = every; valid export time = between 09:00 and 09:10 For example, what part does "Last Export" have to play in the process and what value should it store for things to work? I've been playing for ages and can't figure it out :cry: Thanks J :)

If it isnt working, try changing the last export time to some time a few months ago. If you set up a report to run monthly, and the last export was less than a month ago (manual or auto) then I think CD decides that the monthly report has been done so it doesn't need to be run until the next month. I could be wrong but this methodology seems to be working for me. Also, give yourself mor ethan 10 minutes to run the report! 10 minutes is asking for trouble. You wait a month to run the report, give it a few hours.

Before posting to the forum, I played and played and played - including the Last Export - which is how I decided that there was definitely a relationship but wasn't sure of the rules. By setting the Last Export on scheduled reports to 01:01:01 on 01/01/2001, Auto Mode ran reports :D ... but ... I was then confused about whether Auto Mode then cared about the Valid Export Times - it seemed to be ignoring them :? What I really wanna know is : "What is the correct way to set up a report so that it runs in Auto Mode according to a schedule"? I'm so close to saving hours and hours of time .. just this bit to crack. Oh yeah, I do always allow more time for reports ... that was an example for this post. Thanks again! J :)

I'm new to this too... and I have the added complication that my report files are from a source integrity folder (i.e., read only). I've worked out that CD can be helped along by doing the following: Testing reports by running them on an hourly or daily basis. Initially you may have the odd error, but eventually it should kick in and be reliable. On a daily basis, check the log. Look at the times at which the log was created, and try to set up your reports so that specific times can be correlated with a report. Clear the log routinely. Restart your system occasionally. I notice after a few days CD can become slow to navigate around. A quick reboot and bingo! Also, in answer to your question, I think (and I may be wrong), CD checks the scheduled export time against the last export time. If you have the reports set to weekly, but whilst testing you exported it LESS than a week ago, it will not run. The frequency setting must be greater than the time differential between the last export time and current time. Appreciate the posts Jannoth, the more we can try and update this forum, the more we can work on improving this potentially valuable tool.

I'll play and test as you suggest - run them every hour or so until I can reliably extend the interval to monthly etc. In the meantime, might it be a good improvement / enhancement to have a reset button somewhere which resets the "Last Export" date? It could be either on a per report basis, tho I will run about 90 of these each month so resetting each one would quickly become a chore. An overall reset for all reports would be cool! J :)
