If you can get the list of parameters, I am inclined to think the the connection string is correct.

Simply stated, I don't know why. I do not have access to 2003 to do any debugging.

I have never worked with a universe and don't know anything about a universe, so that could be the issue.

The CPF file extension is just an encrypted text file that Crystal Delivery generates.
