This idea just popped into my head yesterday. It's a simple enough concept. Parse the email body, and maybe subject, for some special character strings representing the parameters (eg. %P1%, %P2%, etc.). Presumably something like what you're doing now for the dynamic filename strings.

Seems like it might not be difficult for simple parameters, but I can also see potential complications, like parameters with multiple values. And doing the substitution in the email subject might be nice, but may not be practical due to space considerations - I don't know what, if any, limits there are on the length of an email subject.

I just figured my last suggestion, parsing the dynamic filename characters in the email, was too easy, since you got it in already, so maybe you needed more of a challenge to occupy your time. <bg>

James

PS: I noticed that your list of changes for the new version mentions checking the from-to times. That'll be good. That actually crossed my mind at some point, but I don't think I ever mentioned it.

I like this idea. I think what I will do is take it a step further and use something like %PN1%, %PN2% for the parameter names as listed 1...N and then use %PV1%, %PV2% for the parameter values as listed 1...N. I will be traveling for work most of next week, but give me a couple of weeks and should have this ready.

The addition of the parameter names is a nice touch. I look forward to it (whenever you have the time).

I am using the following Dynamic Text in the Report Name (Subject of Email) field: "Daily Report For %PV1%"

CD is generating "Daily Report for %%Today+/-N:-1" for the email subject.

PV1 is a date field and the report is run daily for the previous day. CD is displaying the dynamic parameter instead of the date value represented in the dynamic parameter. Is it possible to display the date value of the dynamic parameter in the email subject?

This will be fixed in the next release.
