Export records - CrystalCMD uses 100% of cpu

I have several rather large Crystal reports that I would like to run via Crystal Delivery - each produces several thousand records. When I try to export them to PDF the Export Records window pops up and initially it runs quite fast. As the number of records climbs it starts to slow. It seems to come to a complete stop at around 60% complete. When I look at processes I can see CrystalCMD is using between 90 and 100% of the cpu. I usually end up canceling the export after about 20 minutes.

Thoughts???
